Why does Moka have to verify my identity?

Updated today

To comply with Canadian federal regulations, Moka must verify your identity before we can move funds into your Moka investment account.

Identity verification protects your Moka account by ensuring only authorized users can perform sensitive actions, such as linking bank accounts or updating personal details.

You might be asked to provide some additional documentation after you sign up so that we can confirm your identity. Often a government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, or a bank statement/utility bill in PDF format will do the trick!

The document must be original, i.e. an electronic document or PDF download received by email or from the issuer/service provider’s website. Your name and current address both need to be visible and accurate on the document.

Additionally, Moka employs secure third-party verification services to handle identity verification reliably. Ensure the document you provide, whether a government-issued ID or another supported type, is not expired to avoid rejection.

Please send any documents we request to support@moka.ai. Once we've received your documents and verified your identity, we'll be able to start making transfers into your Moka investment account. 🎉
