Understanding Dividends

If you hold shares in a company that issues dividends, you may be eligible to receive a dividend payment.
To qualify, you must have purchased and held shares before the ex-dividend date — this is the key date set by the company to determine which shareholders are entitled to receive the dividend.

How Dividends Work at Mogo:

  • Dividends are processed automatically by Mogo.

  • The cash from dividends will be credited to the account that holds the relevant shares.

  • You can view your dividend payments in the History section, located under the Account tab in your Mogo app.

Important Timing Details

  • Payment Date: All dividends are officially paid on the payment date announced by the company.

  • Processing Delays: Although dividends are paid on the payment date, there may be a delay before the dividend proceeds appear in your account.
    This delay can occur because:

    • The company may take additional time to disburse the dividends.

    • The Canadian Depository Services must process and deliver the dividend payments to our partner broker before they are posted to your account.
